Favorite Recipes: Scones
Ingredients:
- 2 c all purpose flour
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 t baking powder
- ½ t salt
- 1 large egg
- 8 T unsalted butter, frozen
- ½ c dried fruit (if using)
- 1/4 t baking soda
- ½ c sour cream
Tools:
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoon
- Baking sheet
- Whisk
- Bowls
- Knife
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, 1/3 c sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt
- Grate butter into flour mixture on large holes of a box grater. Use your fingers to work in the dough. Add fruit if using.
- In a small bowl, whisk sour cream and egg until smooth.
- Using a fork, stir sour cream into four mixture until large dough clumps form. Use your hands to press the dough against the bowl into a ball.
- Cut into 8 triangles and bake for 15-17 minutes and cool for 5 minutes.
