Favorite Recipes: Scones


Ingredients:

  • 2 c all purpose flour
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1 t baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 T unsalted butter, frozen
  • ½ c dried fruit (if using)
  • 1/4 t baking soda
  • ½ c sour cream

Tools:
  • Measuring cup
  • Measuring spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • Whisk
  • Bowls
  • Knife

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, 1/3 c sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  3. Grate butter into flour mixture on large holes of a box grater. Use your fingers to work in the dough. Add fruit if using.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk sour cream and egg until smooth.
  5. Using a fork, stir sour cream into four mixture until large dough clumps form. Use your hands to press the dough against the bowl into a ball.
  6. Cut into 8 triangles and bake for 15-17 minutes and cool for 5 minutes.
